Royalty Reporting Guidelines
Please review the royalty reporting guidelines below. If you experience any issues preventing you from submitting your royalty report, please notify IPLA@microsoft.com immediately. Failure to submit your report by the due date specified in your license agreement could put your agreement at risk of termination.
Due Date: All royalty reports must be received by Microsoft on or before the date specified in your license agreement.
Multiple Reports Due: A separate report must be received by Microsoft for each royalty bearing agreement regardless of the quantity shipping during the period.
Complete Reports: All fields within the report must be complete and accurate. Each model and Brand name should be listed in a separate row, as applicable.
English Language: All report information must be submitted in English language only.
Negative Integers: Reports can only include positive numbers, negative integers will not be accepted on reports.
Authorized Contractor: If your company is manufacturing Final Products on behalf of another licensee who is paying the royalties, these products should not be included in your report. (In this case, there must be an agreement between your company and that of your customer designating your company as an Authorized Contractor).
Report Corrections: A submitted report cannot be amended for corrections. You may only submit a replacement report. I.e. You may resubmit a previously completed report to correct errors but note that the resubmitted reports will replace your original submission.
Royalty Free Products: Any licensed technologies reported as “Royalty Free” must be in accordance with the criteria for reporting as defined in your license agreement. The royalty free criteria must be provided/noted in your report.
Minimum Reporting Threshold: If the total number of all units on your report is equal to or less than the number below (per license agreement type), your report submitted on the online tool will be treated as a zero-shipment report.
